Core team meeting

16/12/2011

Present were Richard Pountney, Anna Gruszczynska, Cathy Burnett, Julia Davies and Nicky Watts.

Ethics:

  •  It was agreed that each project needs its own ethical review in order to take into account individual school s’ rules and regulations
  • ·The different Universities’ ethical approval procedures were considered, and these will need to be discussed with Guy Merchant
  • · Ann Macaskill a.macaskill@shu.ac.uk  is the person to contact about ethics at Hallam
  • · We need to be explicit about what and how we are recording personal details for the case studies
  • ·Cathy raised some concerns about the production and authorship of the case studies.  It was agreed that the teachers would have co-authorship /                accreditation of the case studies, but that the team would be responsible for writing them up.
  • ·  We need to write up a policy document that will clarify the copyright procedure that is intended through CC.
  • ·   It was thought that it would be useful to document changing attitudes towards digital literacy, and some system of capturing this needs to be thought through.

It was decided that  Jackie would visit Monteney school,

Julia will cover Notre Dame, Dinnington, Winterhill

                Cathy:   Mandella, Bradfield

                Guy:  Halfway, Newman

Other possible schools?

  •  Cathy mentioned that Lawton C of E in Rotherham may be interested.  Jack Todhunter knows the contact name.
  • · Also Maltby- Mick and Andre know the schools and might be able to contact them.

It was decided that we need to have a clear agenda for the school visits.  We need to decide a set of questions to ask what we need to know from

the schools, and what they need to know from us. A pre-visit was suggested to audit what is in school already that can be built on.  It was stressed that the  project had to be replicable, and should not require any specialist knowledge.

Richard suggested that we present teachers with a pack containing details of the partners, so that teachers understand what is possible and what can be done with the partners. But it was felt that the team would negotiate with the partners, and that the teachers do not need to have direct contact with them.

Feb 9th

  • ·  What is the focus of the meeting?
  • ·   Who will be there?
  • ·   What do we do on the day?

It was felt that the teacher trainers would have a separate conversation

The Sheffield Children’s Festival should be the focus.
